The best way to optimize your puppy training is to take a few classes. At Mike’s Feed Farm, we host puppy class every Saturday with Dogventures. However, there are a few ways to get your little guy started that will make a huge difference right away.

Treats, treats, treats!

The best way to get results is with positive reinforcement. Make sure you have treats at hand at all times when you’re in the process of training. Reward your little guy whenever he follows your commands.

Be Consistent

When your pup is this little, she can be easily molded and might get confused. Make sure your commands are the same and you’re using the same tone and exact wording. Again, consistent rewards are super helpful!

Ignore Bad Behavior

We’re quick to reprimand a dog when he exhibits bad behavior. But, ignoring them can be just as effective. For example, if your pup tends to jump on you when you come home, simply ignore him until he stops. This will be more effective than acknowledging his behavior, even with a reprimand.

Start Early

Puppies can start training as early as 12-16 weeks. It’s best to get started young when they can learn easily and their minds are still developing.
