If you’re interested in seeing more birds in your backyard, the best way to do that is with a birdhouse and some seed. However, before you get started, you’ll want to make sure you are prepared. Preparation is quite simple, but important.

Store your birdseed in a cool and dry location

Make sure your storage container is clean and very durable

Get a good scoop for easy filling (this could be anything from a measuring cup to a deep bowl)

Maintain your bird seed stock by refilling it frequently and check that it’s fresh

PRO TIP: Don’t fill your feeder with more than one or two days of seed so it doesn’t go bad. In storage, keep only about 2-4 weeks' worth of seed.
