Treats are essential when you’re raising a pup. Not only are they a great way to bring joy to your furry friend, but they also are a huge help if you’re trying to train them. Here are a few quick and easy recipes that can be made from ingredients you probably already have! 

Pumpkin & Peanut Butter Dog Treats

Ingredients

1 cup oats 

⅓ cup of pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling!) 

¼ cup natural peanut butter 

Instructions

Grind up the oats to make an oat flour. 

Blend all ingredients in a food processor

Roll the dough onto a lightly floured surface and shape them into treats. 

Place the treats on a baking tray and bake at 300 degrees F for about 20 minutes.  

Frozen Berry Yogurt Treats

Ingredients

Chopped strawberries (fresh or frozen)

Blueberries 

Plain, unsweetened yogurt 

Instructions

Distribute your ingredients evenly into a mold (a popsicle mold or ice cube tray will work!). 

Place in the freezer and grab one when you need it!  

Banana Carrot Treats

Ingredients

1 ripe banana

2 carrots, grated 

2 tbsp coconut oil

1 tbsp chia seeds

1 cup buckwheat flour

Instructions

In a small bowl, mix 1 tbsp. chia seeds with 3 tbsp. water and let sit for 10 minutes to thicken. 

Peel and mash the banana. 

In a large bowl, mix coconut oil, buckwheat flour, carrots, banana and chia seed mixture. 

Add more buckwheat flour as needed if the mixture is too sticky. 

Roll the dough onto a lightly floured surface and shape them into treats. 

Bake at 350 degrees F for about 15-20 minutes. 

Peanut Butter Vanilla Dog Biscuits

Ingredients

1.5 cups whole wheat flour 

½ cup all-purpose flour 

½ cornmeal

½ cup rolled oats

1.5 cups water 

½ cup canola oil

2 eggs

3 tbsp natural peanut butter

2 tbsp vanilla extract 

Instructions 

Combine whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, cornmeal and oats in a large bowl. 

Make a well in the center of the flours and mix in water, oil, eggs, peanut butter and vanilla. 

Roll the dough onto a lightly floured surface and shape them into treats.  

Bake at 400 degrees F for about 20 minutes.  

Choose-Your-Own-Flavor Biscuits

Ingredients 

2 eggs

1 cup unsweetened applesauce 

2 cups whole wheat flour

Flavors (this could be anything from banana to blueberries to carrots) 

Instructions

In a large bowl, mix together eggs, applesauce and flour. 

When the mixture becomes a dough, add your selected flavor ingredients. 

Roll the dough onto a lightly floured surface and shape them into treats. 

Bake at 350 degrees F for about 30-40 minutes.
